Measuring and optimising the composition and performance of the tabular model

The tabular model is a database with columnar storage that has a very efficient structure for querying and is designed for analytical and BI processes.
It is important to ensure the composition of the model, storing only the necessary elements, with the appropriate format and composition to guarantee the quality of its operation.
The effectiveness of model queries also depends on the quality of the DAX language used.
In the workshop we will see how to measure, with external tools in Power BI, the composition of the model, apply techniques that comply with best practices and help to optimise queries that access internal engines with effectiveness and optimal performance.

WORKSHOP 1

Fri 9:30 am - 1:40 pm

ETL with Microsoft Fabric

We will explore the options available in Microsoft Fabric for obtaining, transforming and loading data through case studies.

We will look at how gen2 data flows differ from current data flows and how to migrate Power Query queries to gen2.

We will also see how to use a pipeline to combine the execution of a data stream with other tasks, such as sending an email notification.

And finally, we will see how to combine the execution of a Spark notebook with a gen2 data flow to read data from an API and create a snaphop fact table in which the data obtained from the API is periodically recorded.

WORKSHOP 2

Fri 9:30 am - 1:40 pm

Microsoft Fabric: Exploring the platform's capabilities and applications

In this workshop we will conduct practical sessions in the different areas of Fabric to get an overview of the platform and understand the paradigm shift.

Fabric From Cape to Lake

We will focus on the data engineering experience that Fabric provides through tools such as Data Factory and Power BI. We will start with the extraction of data and its integration into the One Lake and we will end up creating a data model for Direct Lake, the new connection mode announced by Microsoft in Fabric that promises to take advantage of the best of the traditional modes.

Decoding sentiment with Azure, Python and OpenAI

As textual data proliferates from a variety of sources such as tweets and social media posts, it is crucial to understand the key emotions and themes behind the words. In this session, you will learn how to leverage the power of Azure Cognitive Services, Python libraries and OpenAI embeddings to gain valuable insights from your textual data.

From "Virtual Campus" to "Campus 365".

Any educational environment, both at enterprise and academic level, can benefit from the great advantages of integrating the functionality of Microsoft 365 and Power Platform. In this session you will learn about "Campus 365", an end-to-end case in which the data4all team has standardised the use of these tools to facilitate the interaction of students and teachers in any field.

The most relevant blocks we will deal with will be:
- Potential benefits of using Teams as an LMS (Learning Management System).
- Explanation of the "Campus 365" methodology.
- Improving the user experience in Teams.
- Massively generating meeting requests in Teams with Power Automate.
- Empowering Sharepoint to be used as a content management system (CMS).
- Measuring the quality of academic or business sessions using MS Forms and Power BI.

Join us to learn how Microsoft 365 and Power Platform can transform education.

Financial Diagnostics 2.0: An Artificial Intelligence and Power BI Approach

In the dynamic and competitive world of finance, data analytics has become an indispensable tool. In our talk, 'Financial Diagnostics 2.0: An Artificial Intelligence and Power BI Approach', we will explore how emerging technologies can redefine the way we understand and apply financial diagnostics.

We will discuss how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help us decipher hidden patterns, anticipate trends and predict future economic conditions more accurately. We will reveal how Power BI, a powerful business analytics tool, can transform raw data into valuable and visually appealing information for decision making.

ROOM O

Sat 11:20 am - 12:05 pm

Single table model in Power BI? No thanks!

Good modelling in Power BI is essential to optimise the performance of our reports. The star model is the optimal model for Power BI, but according to a Microsoft study more than 80% of the models in the Power BI service consist of a single table. In this session I propose to analyse the differences of using a star model versus a single table model, such as smaller model size and therefore faster data updates, easier DAX calculations or higher scalability of the model.

ROOM O

Sat 12:10 pm - 12:55 pm

The AI is after me!

What could we do with €100, Power Platform and Artificial Intelligence? Could we follow a person in the street? Could we replace someone? Come to this session to see the real possibilities of staging (not spoiler) various artefacts and the application of artificial intelligence.

The user interface is like a joke...

...if you have to explain it, maybe it's not so good.

Successful user adoption is one of the biggest risks in any CRM implementation. But there are many ways to increase the likelihood of success using native functionality for Model-Driven Apps.

So let's take a look at different strategies for creating clean, intuitive and even minimalistic model-driven applications! As an added bonus, let's point out some of the most common mistakes to avoid when it comes to user interface design.
