Next-Step we were gold sponsors and speakers at the V Edition of Global Power Platform Bootcamp Madrid 2024which was held on 23rd and 24th February in Madrid. This global event, which is held simultaneously in more than 50 cities around the world, is already an essential classic in the community of users and interested parties of the Microsoft Power Platform technology. ¡Next-Step We couldn't miss it and we were there supporting and giving our all! 🙌

José Luis Cano and Miguel Esteban, from Next-StepBisbé York, together with Ana Mª. Bisbé York, were founders 5 years ago of the communities Power Platform Spain and Power Platform Madrid. Since then, we have been organisers and co-sponsors of all community events. At Global Power Platform Bootcamp Madrid 2024In addition to organising and sponsoring the event, several members of Next-Step gave a workshop and several talks on the technology that we are experts and pioneers in Spain: Microsoft Power BI.
The first workshop, about Security in Power BI, given by José Luis Cano and Miguel Esteban, took place on Friday 23 February: "Implementing Security in Power BI: From 0 to 100".. It aroused a lot of interest, as security in information analysis processes is fundamental for companies. The workshop attendees learned how to implement security from scratch, working and making examples of:
- Levels of data access
- RLS or row level security
- OLS, object level security
- Security in the Power BI service
For those companies that were interested in this workshop, but were unable to attend, we will soon make a Power BI Security webinar.

On Saturday 24 February, our director José Luis Cano gave the lecture "Power BI and Power APPs, better together. Explaining variances to budget". In this session he explained how to integrate a Power Apps at Power BI. One of the possible applications is to be able to explain deviations from the budget in the report itself. Microsoft Power BI. The integration between components of Microsoft Power Platform always enriches solutions.

On the same Saturday, our colleague Miguel Esteban gave the talk "Skipping security in Power BI".because sometimes it may be necessary to do so. Microsoft Power BI provides us with security mechanisms that allow us to segment the data and the model so that each user only sees the data he/she needs to access. But what happens when we have to make calculations with all the data in the model, for example to make rankings or percentage calculations? How do we bypass the restrictions imposed by security at the row level? In this interesting talk, Miguel explained how to bypass these security restrictions without putting our information at risk.

Finally, our colleague Mª. José Vidal Paz discovered us all about: "Calculation groups and field parameters - Pros and Cons". He analysed in detail the advantages and disadvantages of both tools when implementing them in reporting.

In a nutshell, Global Power Platform Bootcamp Madrid 2024 was a real success, once again we were able to enjoy this great community and family that we are Power Platform Madrid 🤝 See you next year! 😊
