{"id":6741,"date":"2017-01-24T20:08:31","date_gmt":"2017-01-24T20:08:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/next-step.es\/?p=6741"},"modified":"2017-01-24T20:08:31","modified_gmt":"2017-01-24T20:08:31","slug":"upcoming-developments-in-analysis-services-tabular-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/next-step.es\/en\/proximas-novedades-en-analysis-services-tabular-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Upcoming developments in Analysis Services Tabular"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The preview release of the latest version of SQLServer, CTP 1.1 of SQL Server vNext, contains important new features and enhancements for Analysis Services Tabular:<\/p>\n<p>Connection to new data sources as currently offered by PowerBI: multiple file types, databases, Azure sources and other online services, Big Data systems, Facebook, etc.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/next-step.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/NuevasFuentes.png\" alt=\"NewOrigins\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Possibility to perform data transformation directly on the tabular model: split columns, hide columns, change data types, etc... using a query editor in the style of Power Query and PowerBI.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/next-step.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/QueryEditor.png\" alt=\"QueryEditor\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Custom Drill down in Microsoft Excel: allows you to customise the data detail of a measure in an aggregated report. For example, when end users view total sales for a region and a month, they can see the associated order detail.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/next-step.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/DrillDownPersonalizables.png\" alt=\"DrillDownPers\" width=\"405\" height=\"317\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/next-step.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/DrillDownPersonalizables2.png\" alt=\"DrillDownPers2\" width=\"525\" height=\"323\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These improvements, together with the DAX improvements and security enhancements, will make tabular models the most recommended models in most scenarios.
