We start by understanding what is <strong>business intelligence<\/strong> and all the general concepts of business intelligence. We also learned how to consolidate data from different sources (Excel, Access, flat files, web pages, data in the cloud...) and automate the transformation of this data with the Power Query tool.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the introductory course of <strong>Power BI<\/strong> students were able to connect to multiple and varied data sources, easily transform them and visualise them in a customised dashboard, with all their <strong>KPI (<\/strong><strong>key performance indicators<\/strong> or key performance indicators) and tailored to their needs. They also knew how to build interactive reports, with the ability to share them with their entire organisation, on any type of device.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>What we have learned in this Data Analytics with Power BI - Intermediate Level Course\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In this course we have gone deeper into the use of the tool and all its functions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Extraction and Transformation Module<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">We have made progress in learning Power Query and we have been introduced to the <strong><u>language M<\/u><em>:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Advanced Power Query transformations.<\/li>\n<li>Working with Functions in Power Query.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Recursive data loads.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0The advanced editor and introduction to the M language.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Modelling Module<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Types of Relationships<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: left;\">We have seen the usefulness and application of the use of inactive relationships and the use of the filter address.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Calculated Fields and <u>DAX expressions<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">We have learnt how to construct calculated fields, extending the range of functions learnt in the introductory course, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Ranking and TOPN.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Moving year (LTM).<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Measurements at origin.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Balance variables, such as debt or stock.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">We have used <strong>DAX Studio<\/strong> for carrying out these exercises.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0 Security Module<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">We have learned how to restrict the <strong>data visualisation<\/strong> depending on the user making the query. We have worked with roles, and with the implementation of dynamic security in the model itself.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Visualisation Module<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Use of Markers and Buttons<\/strong>. We have built a mobile panel to show or hide filters through the use of buttons and markers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customised visualisations<\/strong>. We have managed visualisations available on the Marketplace such as the synoptic panel or the Sankey diagram.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Geo-visualisation. <\/strong>We have explored the different options for representing data in maps in Power BI.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Module of <u>Power BI.com<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Power BI Administration<\/strong>. We looked at all the Power BI business configuration options, organising access to reports and installing and configuring gateways to connect to your on-premises data.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Apps in Power BI<\/strong>.
